Photo Essay - Lion kill

I had a client yesterday on the brink of booking a safari when he asked me to please confirm that they wouldn't see any animals dying or being eaten by other animals while on their trip, as his wife is a huge animal lover. Of course I couldn't guarantee this...but the comment highlights that contrast of beautiful and disturbing that this essay shows so well. After all, this is animal behaviour at its most pure and while you want to feel sorry for the Buffalo, we all know that this is nature and it is meant to be this way. You can't just love the part of the animal that looks pretty in the picture.

This entire essay is riveting (all the lions on the buffalo at the same time) yet upsetting (photo of lion eating at the lions insides) at the same time. Most people see Lions as cute cats that they can go and stroke in the park therefore getting out of their vehicles for that "closer" snap shot. This essay ensures that you not only stay in your car but maybe add a few burglar bars... Each picture shows the intense wild and ferocious nature (starting picture - brilliant) that earns the Lion its title King of the Beasts yet the Buffalo's sheer strength and tenacity for life fighting off 11 lions can only be admired. It left me with a mixture of emotions from not wanting to look to not being able to look away. Heart wrenching (photo of the buffalo giving last bellow) and intriguing. This is a great photo essay!

Absolutely awesome. It depicts something that is not always seen and takes a while to sink in. I had to first sit and tell myself that this is what the "Jungle" is all about. Its not all Hakuna Matata, but a bit of Scar to... So love it or hate it, its really Gripping!!! (maybe not as the first photo of choice, might be too much for some people)
